Hangar Hobbs, the iPhone app. Effective 4 October 2026.

By using Hangar Hobbs you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Questions go to hangarhobbs@gmail.com.

What Hangar Hobbs is

Hangar Hobbs is a study aid for the FAA knowledge tests. It is not a ground school, and it is not affiliated with, approved by or endorsed by the FAA. It does not replace ground training, an instructor, or the endorsement you need to take the knowledge test. Every question is checked against FAA sources, but we cannot promise the content is free of errors or that you will pass. If a question looks wrong, report it in the app.

Your account

The app makes an anonymous account on your phone. If you delete the app or lose the phone, your progress may not be recoverable. You are responsible for what happens on your phone.

The free plan and the Full route

• The free plan includes lessons in the first units of the Private Pilot track, with a daily fuel tank, plus reviews and checkpoints.
• The Full route unlocks every unit of every track. It is an auto-renewing subscription, sold yearly or monthly, at the price shown in the app before you buy.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm. The subscription renews automatically unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your iPhone's Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Use Restore purchases in the app to bring a subscription to a new phone.

Playing fair with other pilots

Your pilot name should be your own first name and last initial, and nothing offensive or impersonating someone else. Do not use the app to harass anyone. We review every report, and we may rename, hide or remove any account that breaks these rules. You can block or remove any crewmate at any time.

Our content

The questions, explanations, art and the app itself belong to Hangar Hobbs or its licensors. The FAA documents and charts the questions are drawn from are public. Use the app for your own study; please do not copy, resell or redistribute its content.

Apple

These terms are between you and Hangar Hobbs, not Apple. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app and is not responsible for claims about it.

No warranty, and limits

The app is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for more than the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms; the date above will change, and significant changes will be shown in the app. You can stop using the app at any time and ask us to delete your account. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.
