Privacy Policy

FlightCheck ("the app", "we", "us") is operated by Lucas Thal. This Privacy Policy explains what information FlightCheck collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding your information.

1. Information We Collect

FlightCheck collects the minimum information needed to operate the app:

Email address — collected when you create an account. Used solely for authentication (signing you in) and account-related communication.
Account identifier — a unique account ID (UUID) generated by our backend provider when you create an account.
Display name (optional) — a name you may choose to provide in Settings so the app can address you. You can leave it blank, change it, or clear it at any time.
App preferences and content — settings you choose in the app (theme, color palette, auto-advance toggle, screen-awake preference) and any notes you write on checklist items. Stored under your account so they sync across your devices.
Subscription status — whether your account has an active subscription or trial, managed through our subscription infrastructure provider (see "Third Parties"). We never see your payment details.

If you enable Face ID sign-in, a sign-in token is stored in your device's secure Keychain. It never leaves your device and we cannot access it.

FlightCheck does not collect:

Phone number, physical address, or other contact information
Location data (GPS, IP-derived location, or otherwise)
Health, fitness, or biometric data
Financial or payment information (subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your card details)
Contacts, photos, video, or audio
Browsing or search history
Device advertising identifiers (IDFA / GAID)
Usage analytics or product-interaction telemetry
Crash reports linked to your account

2. How We Use Information

The information we collect is used exclusively to operate the app:

To sign you into your account.
To sync your preferences and notes across your devices.
To respond to support requests you initiate.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their marketing.

3. Third Parties

FlightCheck uses two third-party services (processors) to operate the app:

Supabase (Supabase, Inc.) provides authentication and database storage. Your email address, account identifier, display name (if provided), preferences, and notes are stored in our Supabase project. Supabase's privacy practices: supabase.com/privacy.
RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) manages subscription status. It receives your account identifier and purchase receipt information from Apple — never your payment details. RevenueCat's privacy practices: revenuecat.com/privacy.

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or, on the web, by Stripe. FlightCheck never receives your card or payment details.

4. Data Retention

Your information is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see "Your Rights" below), all data associated with your account is permanently removed from our backend within 30 days.

5. Your Rights

You can at any time:

Access your data — most of it is viewable in the app's Settings; for a full export, email the address below.
Correct your data — preferences and notes are editable directly in the app.
Delete your account and all associated data — directly in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by emailing the address below. Deletion is completed within 30 days.
Export your data — request a portable copy by emailing the address below.

Legal bases (EU/EEA and UK users): we process your account data, preferences, and subscription status because it is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), and we maintain security logs and abuse prevention under our legitimate interest in operating the service safely (Art. 6(1)(f)). We do not process your data for any purpose requiring separate consent.

Residents of the EU/EEA, UK, and California have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

6. Children's Privacy

FlightCheck is intended for licensed and student pilots, typically aged 16 or older. FlightCheck is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our backend and encrypted at-rest storage at our backend provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. International Data Transfers

Our backend infrastructure (Supabase, RevenueCat) is located in the United States, which may be outside the country in which you reside. For users in the EU/EEA and UK, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards: our providers offer Data Processing Agreements incorporating the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where certified, participate in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made. Material changes will be communicated in the app or via email to your registered address.
